BSR Code for SBI

SBI BSR code can be used when filling TDS/TCS returns. BSR code is used in challan details and deductee details. BSR codes for State Bank Of India are provided by RBI. The BSR has two parts, Part A of the return relates to accounts with individual credit limits of over Rs.2,00,000. In Part B of the BSR-1 return, account-wise information is not required. It calls for consolidated information on the occupation-wise totals of accounts with individual credit limits of Rs.2,00,000 and less. Please NOTE that not all branches of SBI Bank have BSR codes and hence, some branches might not provide this facility.

How did SBI BSR code come into existence?

State Bank Of India BSR code system was introduced in December 1972 following the recommendation of the “committee on banking statistics” under the chairmanship of Shri A. Raman, director, credit planning cell, Reserve Bank of India, adapting from the former data reporting system called Uniform Balance Book (UBB).In the revision of March 2002, an activity coding system in BSR was introduced for bringing uniformity in the classification system for comparability of the data, nationally as well as internationally.
